Carper To Dean: Shut The #*&)!@ Up!

Word has quickly spread from upstate down to us here in Sussex that Tom Carper recently told a reporter from the News Journal that the next time Howard Dean wants to comment on the situation in Iraq he'd do well to go there himself first. It'll be part of a story sometime next week.

Again Carper showing his moderate tendencies in the Democratic Party, while Whacko Howie continues to do his best to erase all the gains being made on the current corrupt Republican establishment. Hopefully Carper's rebuke is one of many that will come from Democrats on The Hill. Joe Biden, we may have to watch you with Stephanopolous to see if you'll say the same thing. I'm not sure anyone will argue that the situation there is all fucked up. I'm not sure it can be argued that things aren't going well there. But to say we flat out won't win there? The best thing Dems might think about doing would be to nudge Dean and his Deaniacs out of the way and preach a more moderate message, which is only what the whole country is begging one party to deliver.

Meanwhile, why would the News Journal save a slam like that for days later? That's truly baffling, since a story like that would most likely echo across the blogosphere. This is not a story to sit on for a few days so you can tie it into something else like they're supposedly doing. Print it, it's news as it is by itself.

I happen to agree w/ Dean on this point. I believe he is where the American people are now or will soon be.

Like John Murtha says, it's the presence of USA troops that causes the lion share of the problem, and what is part of the problem cannot be part of the solution.

"Dear Dana,
Thank you for the support. Your words make us strong, and we'll send waves of new bombers into the streets, encouraged by you! You give us the hope and strength to keep killing the infidel Americans, and the traitors to Islam in Iraq. Thanks for joining us brother, death to America! They can not win.

Dear Wingnut Pretending to Be A Terrorist,

Pretending is fun! Bush sure likes his pretending and make-believe. But let us move beyond childish fantasy for a second. How do you suppose we are going to "win" this ill-conceived, undermanned occupation?

Also, if you are so gung-ho about us "winning" in Iraq, what are you doing about it? I mean, what are you doing about it other than greedily clamoring for more tax cuts?

It depends on what you mean by win.
If you mean that we get to control the outcome of the elections and retain the 100 or so regulations that Bremer put in place before he skedaddled (including that US Energy cos. get the rights to "undiscovered Iraqui oil fields") before we get out, then maybe we will not "win".

If we really mean that we want to win the peace "for the Iraqis", then we can withdraw in phases and support the new government without an occupying presence.....we can get more help from UN forces the 6,000 troops now going to Afghanistan to help us there.

But I cannot stand behind Dean when he seems to have an inflamatory agenda when our troops are there in harms way.

Can someone tell me why DEMs have Dean in the spotlight??

Nancy -

Don't take the bait. The Republicans have said the same things about Iraq that Dean said. Where was the outrage when Santorum said that we could not win? Where was the outrage when Cheney said it would take 40 years to win?

They like to paint Dean as an extremist because it lets them give order to an otherwise unruly world. It is like how they constantly mention Ted Kennedy.

Jason, you make my point. I think that Dean rates right in there with Santorum, Cheney and our own Tom Carper as lousy off the cuff speakers.

When Carper spoke at my school last week, he was asked about whether the liberal Howard Dean will help or hurt the Democratic Party. Rather than answering the question, he tried to convince us that Dean is not liberal.

In the Carper story in today's WNJ, Carper story says flat out that we will not win a military victory in Iraq.

The whole thing was ginned up by the right-wing press.

When, oh when did "liberal" sink to these depths that DEMS must fear the term?
Is it a shrinking from the tag of "tax and spend"?
Or from the weight of the CORROSIVE CORRUPTION of the past DEM congressional pork powers?

Or can it be a GOPer success story that linked it to a label for anti-American, atheist, apple pie hating, flag-burning, other words left overs from the baby boomers rejection of an injust war and the roll-over cultural revolution that followed?

Wait a second, politakid... you mean Carper didn't directly answer a question posed to him! Never... Lies you tell... harrumph. Carper never answers what is not in his talking points. He's like a word processor. Garbage in Garbage out -- howling Mad Murdoch -- vomit.
