What's Torture Is Having This Guy As Veep

Is torturing prisoners really going to be that effective? I mean really, the fact that such a large number of terrorism suspects turned out to be completely uninvolved in terrorism (unless being a Muslim is being a terrorist) shows that the roundups of suspects and detainments are at best, hit and miss. So of course, when they detain someone who turns out to be innocent, why not ratchet it up a bit and get them to confess to something, anything? Sadly too many Christian conservatives will likely find nothing wrong with that. The modern day Pharisees have no problem with conveniently overlooking a lot of things that their guy Jesus stood for. It's a shame the bible has become so politicized.

Read it and shake your head in frustration.

You don't have to be "christian" conservative to find nothing wrong with that. Just regular conservative will do. Great headline though.

I put the special emphasis on Christian because I feel that sect of people (your's truly excluded obviously) have been hijacked by the far right strictly through abortion. Because many republicans will talk tough about abortion, many Christians are willing to ignore any other atrocity the right seems to favor, be it torture, poverty, or war. Many so-called men and women of God have been led astray, though many of them would say the same of me.

I'd love to bring back public executions just for a day. On that day our nation would publicly execute Osama (provided we find him, of course) and Dick Cheney.

I'd better watch out. The Secret Service is gonna be knocking on my door soon enough.

Mike: why in the world should Cheney be executed? Are you just being "cute," or do you have a real kernel of belief in that? If so, why?

Hube,

I suppose I'm being cute. But, let's put it like this: if Cheney were to die of a heartattack today I would shed no tears. I'd probably laugh and thank the Lord.

Same way some in my family wished death upon Clinton back in the late 90s.

"...many republicans...many Christians...Many so-called men and women..."

Well one thing is certain, there are many, maybe even very many or perhaps even a lot.

Pat Robertson comes to mind but other than he and a few others I wonder just how "many" are the many? Many American Christians are liberal...and many times when someone uses the term many, that just means that they don't feel like systematically making a case that can be empirically verified. These soft words that seem to be a way for an author to render their own judgments about things is fine for blogs I suppose. But note the Old Press as many times they use it too: "Many critics say...." Etc. And they're supposed to have harder more objective facts.

I do wonder who you have in mind when you say many and just how many there are.
